Thoughtful Impacts

If I said your thoughts of you create you. What would you feel? Fear that all the negative things you've spoken to yourself today could be true? or pleasure that you know your worth?

The subtle  impacts of the words flowing through your head day in & day out has a large control on the way we feel & dictates how we show up in our lives. Although sometimes not so subtle, if you know to be aware of the way you treat yourself.

The amount of times I just begin to get negative words out of the mind's mouth, and almost instantly feel the effects of the emotions I have simultaneously created in the process is countless.

Simple as “this sucks”, immediately starts to feel true within minutes, maybe seconds later a simple occurrence comes to my aid to prove me correct. But when I think “today is a blessing” or “life is something to be admired”, again I am provided with evidence that I should cherish my experience & all the things within it.

I want to read a quote to you from a book that I am currently obsessed with called "Becoming Supernatural” by Joe Dispenza, maybe you've heard of it, in chapter 5 he said “ thoughts cause biochemical reactions in your brain that release chemical signals, and those chemical signals make the body feel exactly the way you were just thinking.”

Now this is to say that if the simple momentary language we choose to use can change the way we feel in a tiny moment, would it not for the entire day. & if so why would it not determine the way I feel for my whole existence?

The Art of Self Compassion

Definition being the intentional kindness towards one’s self. The beginning stages being finding the separation between self kindness & self judgment.

It's normal to have negative thoughts about ourselves, if not we would never find the courage to change for the better. But once they get to the point of self degradation the habit stops being helpful and turns harmful rather quickly.

Personally I find myself wrapped up in my own judgements more often than I would like to admit. At times even finding my head falling down to look at my feet in the overwhelming shame of being a flawed human being. Even though that is one of the only things you are certain to be when you enter into this world. At the worst of moments I might even start to think that I hate myself, unfortunately something I have felt for a large majority of my life.

Speaking from personal experience we can start to believe that this form of self destruction is helpful and is what will propel us forward into the future. But if you have even done so you know this cannot be true.

When we shame ourselves not often do we come out of it with the aspirations to be good or better, maybe somewhere hidden in the background sure, but more often than not we feel wounded and like a victim of our own circumstances. Unable to escape the one who placed the judgement upon us. This will not provide us with the drive to push forward but instead the want to give up or fall back making it harder to get going again.

My hope for this video is to provide a reminder to those that need one of our thoughts & their impacts on our lives. As well as spread the knowledge of our cognitive distortions and what they really do in the long run. So next time you find yourself thinking negatively, like “what is wrong with me” or “I can’t do anything right” remind yourself that you’ve tried your best & you are human afterall.
